High-Voltage LED Driver Offers Fault Detection And Protection

Aug. 2, 2010
The MAX16833 high-voltage HB LED driver uses a unique architecture offering short-circuit protection, single-wire connection to LEDs, and internal frequency dithering.

Allowing the design of more fault-tolerant apps, the MAX16833 high-voltage HB LED driver uses a unique architecture offering short-circuit protection, single-wire connection to LEDs, and internal frequency dithering. It can sustain battery load-dump peaks up to 65V during normal operation. Other features include short-circuit protection between the output and ground and the input and output. The MAX16833B does not have frequency dithering, but features a ±2%-accurate 1.64V reference output. Prices start at $1.53 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
