HPC Drives Single- And Multi-Layer Actuators

Feb. 1, 2010
the MAX11835 emerges as the industry's first fully integrated, programmable haptic piezo controller (HPC) for single-layer and multilayer piezo actuators
Employing built-in haptics-waveform generation to reduce processor load and improve haptics-response time, the MAX11835 emerges as the industry's first fully integrated, programmable haptic piezo controller (HPC) for single-layer and multilayer piezo actuators. Reportedly, the device adds the feeling of mechanical feedback to touch screens and capacitive buttons and is compatible with any touchscreen or touch-button controller. It drives actuators over a 5V to 250V range and integrates a programmable haptic pattern generator, programmable boost converter, and high-voltage, high-capacitive load driver to generate a user-configurable, slew-rate-limited boosted voltage output. Available in a 25-pin WLP, pricing for the MAX11835 starts at $1.40 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
