Offering an alternative to heat-dissipating blocking diodes, the ZXGD3102 active OR’ing controller forecasts cooler running, lower maintenance, and higher reliability in up-time-critical telecom, server, and mainframe applications. The device replaces diodes with low on-resistance MOSFETs exhibiting typical voltage drops under 100 mV. It specifies an input voltage blocking capacity of 180V. Sinking a peak turn-off current of 5A, the gate drive is able to achieve a typical MOSFET turn-off time of 160 ns. Residing in an SM8 package, the chip requires a minimal external component count and relies on a 5V to 15V low-current bias rail. Price for the ZXGD3102 active OR’ing controller chip is $ 0.98 each/1,000. DIODES INC., Westlake Village, CA. (805) 446-4800.
