POL Regulators Trim Footprint Dramatically

Nov. 15, 2010
The latest family of SupIRBuck integrated point-of-load (POL) voltage regulators come in a compact 4 x 5 mm PQFN package, netting a 33% smaller footprint than previous generation devices.

The latest family of SupIRBuck integrated point-of-load (POL) voltage regulators come in a compact 4 x 5 mm PQFN package, netting a 33% smaller footprint than previous generation devices. The IR38(53)(56)(59) SupIRBuck voltage regulators integrate a high performance controller with latest generation MOSFETs and deliver 4A, 6A, and 9A outputs, respectively, to achieve more than 96% peak efficiency. Other features include over-voltage protection, an external synchronization option to reduce noise and EMI in multi-rail systems, a true-output-voltage-sensing option for adjustable PGOOD, and over-voltage threshold setting. Prices for the IR3853M, IR3856M, and IR3859M are $1.10, $1.25, and $1.40 each/100,000, respectively. For more information, contact Sian Cummins INTERNATIONAL RECTIFIER, El Segundo, CA.
