Compact Adapter Power Supplies Feature Interchangeable Plugs
The PSA-10R series of 10-W adapter power supplies incorporates interchangeable power plugs. The molded adapter case accommodates slide-in plug assemblies that correspond with various power outlet configurations. Switching power supplies can accept 90- to 264-V ac input voltages, so it can operate from any worldwide line voltage. Also, the double-insulated adapter only needs two ac input conductors. Ground connections, then, aren't necessary in countries with two-wire ac power distribution grids.
These supplies have a ground leakage current that measures less than 250 µA. According to the manufacturer, there is virtually no radiated EMI field, either. They meet FCC Class B and EN55022 emissions, EN50082 noise immunity, and IEC 61000-4-5 level-3 ac surge immunity standards. They're safety approved to UL1950 (Class 2) CSA C22.2 M950 and TUV EN60950, and they're certified to bear the CE mark (LVD) as well.
Six models with output voltages ranging from 3.3 to 24 V are priced at $16.50 in 100-unit quantities. Each model can accept American, European, British, or Australian ac input plug styles. Plugs range in price from $0.45 to $0.80 per 100.

Power-Supply Module Designed For Disc-Storage Applications
The CVR375 is a 365-W ac-dc power supply. It can be used as a standalone power solution or integrated into a higher power N+1 redundant system in disc-storage applications. It provides 5- and 12-V dc outputs (20 and 22 A respectively). The 12-V output has a 28-A peak current capability. All modules accept universal input power (90 to 264 V ac) and use an active power-factor-correction mechanism to comply with EN61000-3-2 requirements.
When installed in a system chassis, the CVR375 meets FCC Part 15 Class B and CISPR 22 Class B EMI limits. Its package, which measures 4.9 by 9.0 by 3.6 in., is compatible with most rack-mount power systems. When used with the CVS750 power shelf, the modules can be configured to form an off-the-shelf, redundant, warm-swappable power system that houses two CVR375 modules and fits into standard 19- or 23-in. cabinets.

Switching-Regulator Family Now Features Electric Volume
The S8330 family of switching regulators features "electric volume." In other words, the output voltage can be adjusted with an 8-bit digital signal from a microprocessor or other control unit. Models in the series deliver digitally controlled output voltages from 8 to 30 V over a range of input voltages, from 2 to 9 V. While it's in shutdown mode, the S-8330 draws 1 µA. Also, the only external components these devices need are a coil, a capacitor, and a diode.
Applications for these regulators include power supplies for LCD graphic displays and portable equipment. Models in the series also can be used as a source for programmable power supplies in test and measurement applications.
Available now, these regulators cost $1.70 each in 2000-unit quantities.

PFC Power Supplies Cut Size While Increasing Power
The GPFC250 and GPFM250 power factor corrected (PFC) single-output power supplies meet the IEC1000-3-2 requirements. They provide 250 W of continuous power with forced-air cooling, or 180 W with unrestricted convection cooling. Standard versions range in output from 3.3 to 48 V. Efficiency exceeds 80%, including PFC input.
Their 5- by 8- by 1.75-in. size is 38% smaller than previous models while supplying increased power and PFC. Additionally, these supplies boast a 3.5-W/in.3 power density. They feature power-fail warning, power-good output, and remote sensing. An optional cover for the cooling fan adds only 0.063 in. to the overall height. A system fan can alternatively be powered with an auxiliary fan output.
In 100-unit quantities, the GPFC250 costs $181.38, and the GPFM250 is $217.66. Both are available six to eight weeks ARO.

DMOS-Based Latched Sink Drivers Feature Low On-Resistance Outputs
The A6259, A6273, and A6595 series comprise a family of latched sink drivers with DMOS outputs designed for multipurpose switching applications. Their low drain-to-source on resistance minimizes power dissipation. Copper lead frames enhance thermal performance. CMOS inputs permit direct interfacing with microprocessor-based systems. Two possible DMOS outputs include a 5-Ω and 1.3-Ω with 150-mA and 250-mA capability, respectively.
The A6259 combines a 3- to 8-line CMOS decoder and accompanying data latches and control circuits. The A6273 series combines eight positive edge-triggered D-type data latches with an input for each of the DMOS outputs. The A6595 series combines an 8-bit shift register and data latches. All of the devices operate between −40°C and 125°C. They also can operate all outputs simultaneously at an 85°C full rated current.

GaAsFET Uses HFET Technology To Achieve High Output Power
The TIM5964-60SL is a 60-W, C-Band gallium-arsenide field-effect transistor (GaAsFET). It has a 48.0-dBm output power at a typical 5.0- to 6.4-GHz frequency range. Furthermore, this internally matched device uses heterojunction field-effect transistor (HFET) technology to achieve this degree of power. HFETs have a higher Schottky barrier height than GaAS MESFETs do. This improves gate breakdown voltage while reducing gate leakage current, boosting the power.
According to the manufacturer, the TIM5964-60SL is optimized for use in solid-state power amplifiers for satellite earth-station communication transmitters (SATCOM) and very small aperture terminals (VSAT). It also targets other wireless communications and point-to-point radio applications. Designers can use the device to boost signal strength using fewer components, thereby lowering system costs, as well.
