Tailored for notebook computers, the ISL6232CAZA quad-output, power-supply controller includes two PWM controllers generating 0.8V to 5.5V outputs plus 5V and 3.3V linear regulators delivering output currents up to 100 mA. The device employs constant-frequency, current-mode PWM control with out-of-phase operation and exhibits a quiescent-power dissipation as low as 3.5 mW. Features include a fixed operating frequency of 300 kHz, current-mode control architecture, current sensing or DCR current sensing, soft-start and soft-stop, output discharge, selectable power-up sequence and forced PWM, pulse skipping, and an ultrasonic pulse skipping mode. The controller comes in a 28-lead, lead-free QSOP priced at $3 each/1,000. INTERSIL CORP., Palm Bay, FL. (888) 468-3774.
