The AD8363 TruPwr RMS power detector is capable of measuring signals with highly varying crest factors from 50 Hz to 6 GHz, making it viable for RF applications including power amplifier linearization/control loops, transmitter power control, transmitter signal strength indication, and RF instrumentation. The chip's single-ended input eliminates the need for an external balun and it specifies and accuracy of ±0.5 dB over a dynamic range of 50 dB ±1 dB. The output is linear-in-dB and scaled to 50 mV/dB, however other slopes are configurable. Other features include an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and a supply voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V. Sampling now in a 16-lead, 4 mm x 4 mm LFCSP, price is $5.25 each/1,000.
