Taking center stage as the industry’s first power interface switches compliant with the new CardBay/CardBus+ standard for PC Cards, the TPS222x devices support the distribution of 1.8V, 3.3V and 5 V to the PC Card slot. The TPS2228 provides a dual-slot power interface switch for CardBay/CardBus+ controllers with a serial interface and the TPS2221 provides a single-slot switch for controllers with a parallel interface. Both provide fully integrated VCC and VPP/VCORE switching with the capability of programming the VPP/VCORE outputs independently for compatibility with legacy systems. Inputs compatible with TTL logic are also included, as well as short-circuit and thermal protection. The TPS2228 comes in a thermally enhanced, 20-pin HTSSOP PowerPad and the TPS2228 is offered in a standard surface-mount, 30-pin SSOP. Prices are $2.95 and $3.05, respectively, each/1,000.
