Touted as the industry's first processor-controlled pulse-width modulator (PWM) to combine low cost, low power operation, and two-wire addressability in an eight-pin, micro-SOP, the DS1050 5-bit programmable PWM generates a square-wave output in standard frequencies of 1, 5 and 10 kHz. Its microprocessor-controlled duty cycle is variable from 0% to 100% in 3% steps. The device operates from 2.5V to 5.5V at a typical current of 50 µA that drops to 1 µA in power-down mode. Pricing is $0.99 each/1000.
