Single-Channel Gate Driver Handles Apps Up To 1200 V

Infineon’s 1EDI EiceDRIVER single-channel gate driver, appearing at this year’s SPS IPC Drives 2013 trade fair (Nuremberg, Germany; Nov. 26-28), is designed for applications with isolation voltages up to 1200 V.

Infineon’s 1EDI EiceDRIVER single-channel gate driver, appearing at this year’s SPS IPC Drives 2013 trade fair (Nuremberg, Germany; Nov. 26-28), is designed for applications with isolation voltages up to 1200 V. The galvanically isolated driver components are based on the company’s Coreless Transformer Technology, which allows for output currents of up to 6 A on separate output pins. The MOSFET driver, optimized for use with power semiconductors based on CoolMOS technology, and one IGBT driver supply the output current. Lower induction loss allows for an additional 0.5 gain in efficiency with the latest-generation CoolMOS C7. The EiceDRIVER components achieve a value of 100 kV/µs for common-mode transient immunity (CMTI). The 1EDI drivers come in a compact DSO-8 package, and can be used at ambient temperatures up to 125°C. Applications include industrial drives, inverters, power supplies for servers or telecommunications, etc.
