The LTC1735, LTC1735-1 and LTC1736 are a family of step-down dc-to-dc controllers for powering low-voltage microprocessors in notebook computers, as well as other high-power loads. Their fixed-frequency, current-mode architecture with OPTI-LOOP compensation provides 1% dc output accuracy and fast transient response with minimal external components. They also include proprietary soft-latch overvoltage protection circuitry that protects against harmful overvoltage and overcurrent faults without the risk of false tripping. The synchronous devices drive external N-channel MOSFETs. OPTI-LOOP compensation effectively removes the output capacitor ESR restraints imposed by other controllers, allowing excellent load step response with a minimum of output capacitance.
