Voltage Regulator Simplifies Design, Maximizes Efficiency

Jan. 15, 2010
IR3870M SupIRBuck integrated voltage regulator promises to ease design work while maximizing efficiency for a wide range of products
The IR3870M SupIRBuck integrated voltage regulator promises to ease design work while maximizing efficiency for a wide range of products. It features a hysteretic constant on-time modulator with adaptive dead-time control and on-state resistance current sensing. Capable of delivering up to 10A in environments with up to 60°C ambient temperatures, the device features diode emulation for improved light load efficiency. Other features include a charge pump output option, an input-voltage range from 3V to 26V, programmable output voltages from 0.5V to 12V via an external resistor divider network, pre-bias startup, 0.5V reference, over- and under-voltage shut down, power good output, enable input with voltage monitoring, constant on-time control, programmable switching frequency, soft start, and over-current protection. Price for the IR3870MTRPBF is $2.35 each/1,000. For more information, contact Sian Cummins at INTERNATIONAL RECTIFIER, El Segundo, CA. (310) 252-7148.
