Packing two fixed and three variable voltage supervisors, the CAT885 five-channel device monitors the power supply status of a microprocessor, microcontroller, ASIC, or other system processors. Available in an eight-lead MSOP, the device features an open-drain output, active-low function with manual reset to perform system reset and monitoring functions. It monitors up to five system voltages by maintaining a reset output active until all power supply voltages exceed specific trip values. The device then maintains the reset output in an active condition until the internal timer times out, which allows the system power supplies to stabilize. Two of the voltage detectors are factory set for 5V, 3.3V, 3.0V, 2.5V, or 1.8V supplies while the third, fourth, and fifth voltage monitors are adjustable for specific requirements (greater than 0.6V) via external resistors. Price for the CAT885 is $1.17 each/10,000. CATALYST SEMICONDUCTOR INC., Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 258-5991.
