Dual Intel Xeon Processors Power Expandable Networking Platform

Sept. 17, 2014
2U networking platform intended for high performance and robust scalability, expanding from a standard 2x GbE LAN ports to a maximum of 56 GbE LAN copper/fiber ports.

WIN Enterprises’ PL-80650, a 2U networking platform powered by two Intel Sandy Bridge-EP or Ivy Bridge-EP Xeon E5-2600V2 series processors is intended for high performance and robust scalability, expanding from a standard 2x GbE LAN ports to a maximum of 56 GbE LAN copper/fiber ports. The processors support Intel QuickPath Interconnects running up to 8.0 GT/s speeds. QuickPath provides a high-speed, point-to-point interconnect bus between processor and chipset that reduces memory socket latency while increasing performance. The E5-2600V2 series processor has up to 12 cores, 30 MB cache, and up to 80 PCIe lanes. Each processor supports 4x DDR3 SDRAMs (up to 1600/1866 MHz) and a maximum memory capacity up to 128 GB. The new networking platform supports one 2.5" SATA hard disk or solid state drive, control and packet processing, Intel Quick Assist and the Intel Communication chipset DH89xx. It provides hardware acceleration in communications applications for more efficient cryptographic and compression performance. The selection of LAN expansion modules support 10 Gigabit SFP+, Gigabit copper with bypass function and Gigabit fiber ports. Typical OEM applications include Unified Threat Management, Enterprise Network Firewalls, Application Delivery Controllers, WAN Optimization Control and Intrusion Prevention.
