Honda will debut the newest version of its ASIMO advanced humanoid robot for the first time in North America at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). A news conference will take place on Tuesday, January 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the Honda booth #4006 inside the North Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

For the first time outside of Japan, ASIMO will demonstrate its latest advancements and even more fluid and quick movements, including the ability to run at nearly 4 mph. The newest ASIMO also has other new mobility and artificial intelligence capabilities.

Nicknamed "ASIMO Type R" for its "revolutionary" ability to "run" at humanlike speeds, the newest ASIMO has made several significant leaps forward from its predecessor. The new ASIMO can better interact with and carry out commands given by people, and can more effectively perform tasks including moving carts and carrying objects.

Honda continues ASIMO's development with the goal of one day producing a robot capable of assisting those who lack full mobility and of working in environments dangerous for humans.
