HDMI 1.4 Transceiver Employs Ultra-Fast Switching Technology

Oct. 5, 2009

Expanding the Advantiv portfolio is the ADV7623, which the company promotes as the first HDMI 1.4 transceiver for home and professional audio/video designs. The transceiver employs Xpressview fast switching technology that enables seamless, automatic switching between HDMI devices in a fraction of a second, eliminating up to 19s of delay required by many systems. The device also claims to be the only HDMI 1.4 device to integrate a 4:1 multiplexed input HDMI receiver, HDMI transmitter, and CEC buffer and controller into a single platform. The ADV7623 provides complete audio support for eight channels of I2S audio, S/PDIF digital audio output, SACD, and compressed SACD with DSD and DST output interfaces. It also supports HBR audio streaming to allow recovery and downstream processing of compressed lossless audio formats including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio or DTS-HD high-resolution audio. In a 144-lead, 20 mm x 20 mm LQFP, the ADV7623 is sampling now with production coming in February 2010. Price is $10.95 each/1,000. ANALOG DEVICES, INC., Norwood, MA. (800) 426-2564.
