Bivar’s Rail and Tower Modular Light Pipe System Maximizes Configuration and Minimizes Complexity

Oct. 13, 2023
Bivar’s MLPS seeks to overcome common pain points with a modular product series with customizable configuration to suit any application.

Generating custom light pipe systems is costly, requires long lead times, and large minimum order quantities. The patent-pending Modular Light Pipe System (MLPS) is Bivar’s latest addition to their expansive light pipe product offering. By creating a new unique modular product series, Rail and Tower, configuring a light pipe system with Bivar is a whole lot easier. Customers can optimize the MLPS configuration to suit their application from a single station to an 8x12 and everything in between, helping push their product to market faster.

How It Simplifies Design

Bivar is all too familiar working with customers who are frustrated with the hassle of iterating through custom light pipe designs. Continually returning to the drawing board and collaborating with design partners can be burdensome and costly. Minimum order quantities, non-recurring engineering fees and long lead times for custom components can also make the light pipe design process more tedious than it needs to be.

The MLPS seeks to overcome all these pain points, eliminating the red tape of MOQs, NREs, and long lead times. The Rail and Tower (RT) and Rail, Tower, Bezel (RTB) systems are now available for purchase. Bivar is focused on putting the power back into the hands of designers and product developers.

The Rail and Tower system contains adjustable rails along with Bivar’s ZeroLightBleed tower adapter technology, resulting in the most efficient light pipe system on the market.

As a modular product, users have the freedom to customize the configuration for their intended application. Tower adapter light pipes are offered in heights from 0.5 inches to 2 inches, 3mm or 4mm diameter lens, domed or flat lens profile. The system’s nylon and polycarbonate materials are robust for a variety of applications, including harsh outdoor environments. The optional bezel fits directly on top of the light pipes, ensuring precise alignment for appropriate application.

The Rail and Tower puts the power in the user’s hands as the first Modular Light Pipe System intended for device communication. With an easy-to-install design, customers can quickly implement an MLPS into their product.
