A ready-to-use software measurement user interface is now available from Agilent for the ParBERT 81250 parallel bit-error ratio (BER) tester. According to the company, the software accelerates the testing, verification, and characterization of high-speed optical and digital components by a factor of 10.

The software can be directly inserted into the user's test executive. It has fast pass/fail measurements, fast setup, hold time, eye-opening specifica- tion results, and graphical results for detailed root-cause analysis. An NT 4.0-based GUI simplifies data export and graphical and numerical result printing.

Its measurement software simplifies fast eye-mask measurements for manufacturing test applications. Testing all channels simultaneously, engineers can measure up to 32 predefined points within the eye to quickly determine whether a device meets specifications. When combined with several test channels in parallel, the fast eye-mask measurement reduces test time. The software also yields fast pass/fail results.

ParBERT 81250 and its software combined reduce test time and improve throughput for high-speed digital-component testing. The tools typically take less than a second to measure two channels at 2.67 Gbits/s. The software provides additional measurement results, including fast clock out to data out timing, skew between outputs, and eye-opening specifications.

Available now, this ParBERT 81250 combination starts at $70,000. The software will be provided to current ParBERT customers for free.
