The E4980A LCR meter claims to provide the industry's highest accuracy, 0.05% basic, and repeatability over a frequency range from 20 Hz to 2 MHz. Measurement speed is 5.6 ms at 1 MHz, a figure said to allow manufacturers to make lower-cost devices due to improved test throughput and increased production yields. Additionally, The meter's support for LAN, USB, and GPIB, coupled with support for 20-VRMS test signals promises easier management of multiple-instrument setups. Other features include support for 40 Adc bias-current sources, a dc resistance, voltage, and current measurement readout for performing simultaneous evaluations of dc characteristics, and a 10 Vdc source output port for evaluating 3-terminal devices. Pricing starts at $13,000. AGILENT TECHNOLOGIES INC., Palo Alto, CA. (800) 829-4444, item number 8033.
