With the introduction of the CSA7000 Series of real-time digital oscilloscopes, designers have a set of powerful new instruments for testing high-speed electrical and optical systems capable of operating at data rates of up to 2.5 Gb/s (OC-48). And adding to the testerÕs power and versatility are a number of integrated features, namely, an optical reference receiver, clock recovery and serial triggering capabilities. The CSA7404, presently the flagship model of the CSA7000 Series, offers a 4-GHz bandwidth and a 20-GSample/s sample rate and boasts of features such an integrated optical/electrical (O/E) converter and a library of optical reference receiver (ORR) filters that deliver the frequency response needed for compliance testing. The special features also eliminate the need to calibrate external O/E accessories. In addition, a broad spectral response allows users to address long- and short-wavelength applications without reconfiguring the tester. As to the clock recovery feature, it extracts a clock from the userÕs serial data stream to provide single-connection convenience. And the 32-bit serial trigger is said to provide a powerful new tool for navigating through serial data streams and for isolating pattern-dependent effects. The CSA7000 Series also includes Model CSA7154, a 1.5-GHz bandwidth, 20-GSample/s analyzer for use at data rates up to 1.25 GHz. Price of CSA7000 analyzers ranges from $37,500 to $57,500. TEKTRONIX INC., Beaverton, OR. (800) 426-2200 and request code 1241.
