The latest member of the company's family of central packet switches (CPS), the 80KSW0005, provides more bandwidth and performance than existing family members by offering up to ten 4x ports of 10G connectivity. The resulting increase in throughput makes the device desirable for use in bandwidth-intensive applications ranging from 3.5G and 4G wireless infrastructures to next-generation enterprise storage and imaging. Similar to other members of the CPS family, the 80KSW0005 employs fourth-generation IDT SerDes and sRIO core switch technology. It supports sRIO packet switching including unicast, multicast, and optional broadcast from any of its 10 input ports to any of its 10 output ports. A proprietary graphical user interface is available at no extra charge that allows users to configure and control every feature and function as well as acting as a diagnostic tool for system troubleshooting during board bring up. Available in a RoHS-compliant, 676-ball BGA measuring 27 mm x 27 mm, price for the 80KSW0005 is $55 in 10,000 unit quantities. INTEGRATED DEVICE TECHNOLOGY INC., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 345-7015.
