Designed for the medical imaging market, the ADS5120 is said to be the industry’s first A/D converter to deliver simultaneous conversion of up to eight differential analog signals. The device performs simultaneous conversions at rates up to 40 Msamples/s with a 10-bit resolution. Other features include differential 1V signaling, a crosstalk of 67 dB, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 57 dB, distortion of 9.3 bits, and a typical power consumption of 85 mW per channel. Available in a 257-lead plastic BGA package measuring 32 mm square with a mainstream lead pitch of 0.8 mm, the ADC costs $37 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924, ext 4500.
