Avago Technologies, formerly the Agilent Technologies Semiconductor Products Group, has released the industry's first quad, bi-directional digital optocoupler—the ACSL-6410. It features three forward channels and one reverse channel in a 16-pin, 9.9 mm x 5.9 mm x 1.7 mm SOIC package. The company integrates multiple optocouplers by stacking LED die and an insulating layer on a silicon substrate. The device targets a number of apps including parallel and serial interfaces, SPI, I2C, microprocessor system interfaces, digital isolation for ADCs and DACs, data acquisition, and full-duplex communications. Similar to previous ACSL-6xx0 series optocouplers, the ACSL-6410 performs at a typical operating speed of 15 MBd with a common-mode rejection of 10 kV/ms minimum, and operates from a 3V to 5.5V supply in temperatures from -40°C to +100°C. Price is $3.80 each/10,000. AVAGO TECHNOLOGIES, Santa Clara, CA. (800) 235-0312
