Claiming to be a first, the AD5516 is a 16-channel, 12-bit D/A converter with bipolar outputs and a 14-bit increment mode. The chip incorporates a serial interface operating at rates up to 20 MHz and is compatible with SPI, Microwire and DSP interfaces. Channel update rate, including output settling time, is 50 kHz per channel. Users can vary output in 0.25 LSB steps via the device’s increment mode. Output voltage ranges include ±2.5V (AD5516-1), ±5V (AD5516-2), and ±10V (AD5516-3). Other features include an integral nonlinearity error of less than ±1 LSB typical and a daisy-chain mode.
