Hyperfast-Recovery Diodes Feature Soft-Recovery Waveshape
The PFC series of hyperfast-recovery diodes is designed specifically to increase performance and power density in power-factor correction (PFC) boost circuits for offline switch-mode power supplies. The diodes feature soft-recovery waveshapes. The 8-, 15-, and 30-A devices are suited for power-output levels to 1.5 kW.

All of the PFC diodes are well-matched with advanced planar HEXFET power MOSFETs for hard-switched converters and PFC boost-circuit applications. The 8ETH06, 15ETH06, 30ETH06, and 30EPH06 are 600-V, soft-recovery rectifiers with low forward-voltage drop and reverse leakage.

This configuration reduces conduction and switching losses. The platinum diffusion manufacturing process ensures a gentle and spike-free reverse- recovery waveshape over a wide temperature range, reducing radiated electrical noise. Providing a large operating area, the devices have a maximum junction temperature of 175°C.

Reverse-recovery times are as low as 30 ns. The PFC diodes are available in TO-220, TO-262, TO-263, and TO-247 packages for easy design-in. For 100,000-unit quantities, pricing of the devices begins at $0.55.
