This latest addition to the company's family of electro-optical interface ICs is a continuous tuning clock and data recovery chip for multi-service provisioning platforms. The ADN2812 automatically locks onto any incoming data rate between 10 Mbps and 2.7 Gbps without an external reference clock and delivers the acquired data rate frequency through its I2C port. With the ADN2812, engineers can design equipment that can accommodate the different bit rate needs of the future. It exceeds all SONET jitter requirements, including jitter transfer, generation and tolerance. Other features of the device include a limiting amp sensitivity of 4 mv and a typical power consumption of 700 mW. The ADN2812 is being targeted at next-generation protocol and data rate agnostic equipment operating over Ethernet and SONET/SDH OC-1/3/12/48 and all associated FEC rates. Other applications include backplanes, test equipment, MSPPs, WDM transponders, regenerators/repeaters, and routers. The ADN2812 costs $54.00 each/1,000 and is currently sampling, with full production scheduled for September. ANALOG DEVICES INC., Wilmington, MA. (800) 262-5643.
