Expanding the company's family of ambient light sensors, the APDS-9007 provides a logarithmic output and covers a wide range of brightness from 3 lux to 70,000 lux. Designed to follow the human-eye spectral response curve, the sensor promises a reliable sensor reading under diverse lighting conditions, including direct sunlight. To reduce power consumption and save battery life, it allows the auto adjustment of LCD backlight intensity and keypad lighting. Available in a lead-free, surface-mount chipLED package, the device operates across a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and from a 2V to 3.6V supply. Price begins at $0.45 in moderate volumes.
