Op Amp Lowers The Boom On Noise And Distortion

A new high-speed operational amplifier greatly minimizes voltage noise and harmonic distortion. The AD8099 features an advanced circuit architecture that enables it to deliver both 0.95 nV/rt Hz voltage noise and -90 dB at 10 MHz distortion, claimed as a breakthrough combination of specifications. In addition, the new device provides a 1,600V/µs slew rate and a 5-GHz gain bandwidth product at gain of 10. A new pin-out reduces the mutual inductance -- and resulting distortion products -- caused by the coupling between positive input and negative supply. Additionally, the amplifier provides two output pins to reduce feedback parasitics. The device is available in a 3 mm x 3 mm lead frame chip-scale package (LFCSP), which is designed to reduce lead inductance, provide improved thermal characteristics, and save board space. It’s also available in a traditional low profile 8-lead SOIC. In either package, the AD8099 is priced at $1.98 each/1,000. ANALOG DEVICES INC., Norwood, MA. (800) 262-5643.
