The company’s new trimming technology, called e-trim, calibrates the offset voltage and offset voltage drift over temperature of the OPA727/728 precision operational amplifiers during the final manufacturing steps. This significantly improves accuracy compared to traditional laser trimming by avoiding parameter shifts that occur during plastic molding of the package. The amplifiers are 12V CMOS devices whose offset voltage is 150 µV maximum and voltage drift with temperature is 1.5 µV/°C. The device’s ac parameters include 20 MHz bandwidth, 30 V/µs slew rate, and 600 ns settling time. Input noise is 6 nV/vHz and harmonic distortion is 0.0003%. The input common-mode range extends to ground for true single-supply operation and the output swings to within 150 mV of the supply rail. The shutdown version—OPA728—reduces the quiescent current to 6 µA (typical) and has a digital ground reference pin for easy interface to standard logic levels.
