Hailed as the smallest power amplifier modules in the industry, the System Smart family is designed for CDMA cellular handsets, PCS and wireless local loop applications. Measuring 3 mm x 3 mm x 1.2 mm each, the family includes the SKY77149 for CDMA/AMPS (824 MHz to 849 MHz) and the SKY77154 for CDMA/PCS (1,850 MHz to 1,910 MHz) applications. The fully matched PA modules meet stringent IS95/CDMA2000 1xEV linearity requirements up to and exceeding 28 dBm of output power and can be driven to levels beyond 31 dBm for high efficiency in FM mode operation. Additionally, each module offers a low reference voltage of 2.85V, allowing each to be operated from the same voltage regulator as the transmit RFIC. Both devices are offered in a compact 8-pin, multi-chip module package, which is said to be 44% smaller than any other 50-ohm matched CDMA module currently available. The SKY77149 and SKY77154 are sampling now, with volume production scheduled for the second half of 2003. Pricing is $2 each/100,000. SKYWORKS SOLUTIONS INC., Woburn, MA. (781) 376-3135.
