Operating in the 260-470 MHz band, the LR Series of RF modules can transfer serial data and control and command information over distances greater than 3,000 feet, reportedly some 5-10 times greater than previous discrete and modular solutions. The wireless modules require only an antenna to operate and can interface to virtually any data source, including microcontrollers and decoder chips. Suitable for both domestic and export wireless applications, the SMT modules require a 2.7 to 5.2 Vdc supply and boast of a low power consumption (5.2 mA operational and 28 µA sleep mode), a –40°C to +70°C operating temperature range, adjustable transmitter power, and a receiver sensitivity in excess of –115 dBm. Further, a precision crystal-locked PLL architecture allows for transparent data transfer rates of up to 10 kbps. In production quantities, LR Series parts cost $3.58 (TX) and $6.78 (RX).
