Contract electronic manufacturing services provider Kimball Electronics Group said its Poland facility has been awarded a contract to manufacture next-generation electronically power-assisted steering systems for the European market. The contract is worth approximately €130 million ($170 million) over five years. Angus Watson, the firm’s director of automotive industry solutions, said the contract award reflects the rapid acceptance of electronic steering by the European market based on eco-benefits in improved fuel economy and emissions as well as advanced functions and easy packaging.
