Rotary Encoder Can Be Equipped With Momentary Switch

Aug. 1, 1999

The functions of "several" variable resistor/switch products reportedly can be provided at a fraction of the cost with a new family of rotary encoders with an optional momentary switch. The new Series 288 devices provide a direct interface to digital circuitry without signal conversion, as is required by analog circuits. Applications for the digital interfaces are growing rapidly in a host of industrial, office, automotive and home electronic equipment and appliances. The rugged, compact, 16-mm rotary encoders are available with: 16 detents; 2-bit binary, 4-bit hexidecimal codes; multiple terminal styles; choice of shaft lengths and trim; and the optional momentary switch.
