Offered as an enhancement to the company's VxWorks Board Support Package, the VMISFT-7418 is compatible with Wind River Systems Inc.'s new version of Tornado Integrated Development Environment (IDE), Tornado II. Substantially easing the creation of embedded systems, Tornado II is based on the VxWorks real-time operating system. It also provides a project configuration wizard for the target system, an integrated RTOS simulator and associated debugger, a remote source-level debugger, an integrated editor, a system object browser, and wraps all of these elements into a graphical development environment that runs under UNIX (Solaris or HP-UX) or Windows 95/98/NT. The package acts as a linking device to the VxWorks OS, allowing software created with the Tornado II IDE to load and run on VMIC's series of VMEbus and cPCI Pentium-based computers. The VMISFT-7418 also supports six different booting options.
