The LX1995 step-up boost converter is available in two miniature versions for powering LEDs in handheld displays wireless phones, pagers, digital cameras, GPS receivers and PDAs. The LX1995-1 has a switch current of 325 mA for driving up to six LEDs, while the LX1995-2 puts out 500 mA for applications of up to 10 LEDs. Both types can provide automatic brightness control of LED displays when teamed with the company?s visible light sensors. Two package styles are available: a 1.0-mm high thin-shrink small outline (TSOT) for applications requiring the smallest height and a 1.3-mm high SOT-23.Both can be designed with very small inductors and filter capacitors to conserve board space. Pricing for the TSOT package is $0.58 each/10,000 and for the SOT-23 version is $0.50 each/10,000. MICROSEMI CORP., Irvine, CA. (949) 221-7112.
