Addressing requirements for unmanaged or lightly managed switches, the NETernity 6U CompactPCI CP982RC and CP980RC 24-port Gigabit Ethernet switches provide Layer 2 switching at wire speed. The CP980RC targets high-performance, high reliability applications on a tight budget while the CP982RC suits applications that require the same performance with some degree of management without the cost of full management. Availability of OpenWare Lite software on the CP982RC provides the required level of management at a cost commensurate with its reduced level of functionality. Front ports on the CP982RC can be 10/100/1000 Base-T, 1000 Base-LX or 1000 Base-SX, while rear I/O ports are 10/100/1000 Base-T. The CP980RC provides 10/100/1000 Base-T support for both front and rear ports. Both boards support hot swapping and an optional conformal coating is available.
