Said to combine high reliability with ultra high efficiency, the Austin Lynx family of single-output 10A non-isolated dc/dc converters is designed to enable IT and communications equipment manufacturers to power the latest low-voltage components, while minimizing board space requirements. Synchronous rectification technology creates efficiency levels up to 94%, while the estimated MTBF of the modules is pegged at two million hours at operating temperatures ranging from -40¡C to 85¡C.With the modules, an intermediate bus voltage of 3 to 5 Vdc can be converted into a precisely regulated single ouput ranging from 3.3 to as low as 0.9 Vdc. The modules are available in both SIP and SMT packages. The SIPs measure 50.8 x 12.7 x 8.4 mm and are designed for through-hole vertically oriented connection. By contrast, the SMT models measure 33.0 x 13.5 x 7.4 mm and are designed for automated surface-mount assembly. Safety features include output over-voltage, output current, and over-temperature protection. Pricing is $13.75 each/1,000. TYCO ELECTRONICS POWER SYSTEMS, Mesquite, TX. (800) 526-7819.
