VIA Technologies’ compact, fanless VIA AMOS-820, designed around the company’s mini VAB-280 Pico-ITX board, features a 1.0-GHz Freescale i.MX 6Q uad ARM Cortex-A9 system-on-a-chip with three integrated GPUs. With its ruggedized design and an operating temperature ranging from −20 to 65°C, the 15- by 4.6- by 10.8-cm system will find homes in industrial automation, transportation, HMI, and energy-management applications. Power consumption is 7 W thermal design power (TDP). It supports Embedded Linux, Window Embedded Compact 7 (WEC 7), and Android operating systems. The VAB-820’s capture-in support and optional 3G connectivity also suits it for surveillance. Power over Ethernet (PoE) support facilitates seamless integration. Up to 4 Gbytes of eMMC flash for storage can be expanded through one MicroSD card slot. Front I/O includes two COMs, one DIO, two CANs, one USB 2.0, and one Micro USB 2.0 OTG, plus Line-in/out and Mic-in. Rear I/O includes one HDMI, one composite RCA jack, one GigaLAN, one MicroSD, and two USB 2.0s. Optional Optional 3G/Wi-Fi can be supported through on-board USB pin-headers or a Mini PCIe slot.
