Integrated Modular Jacks Target High-Speed Data Applications

May 1, 2000

The GIS series RJ45-style jacks are available with different filtering packages to accommodate the various chipsets found in 10/100 BaseT applications. With the required transformers, chokes, capacitors, and termination resistors installed within the connector, it is claimed that this series offers improved reliability and performance over traditional design options using separate components.
These connectors are currently available in single-port designs. A variety of new designs that include enhanced shielding, mutiple ports, and alternate printed circuit board layouts are under development. High temperature versions are also available.
Pricing is under $2/port each in quantities over 5000 with lead times from six to eight weeks.
