International DAA Chipset Boosts Soft Modem Adoption

Promising to accelerate the adoption of soft modems in the low-cost PC market, the Si3038 international silicon direct access arrangement (DAA) chipset complies with Intel's AC'97 2.1 spec and supports the latest Intel mobile and desktop core logic. The core logic, with a direct interface to a Si3038-based mobile daughtercard, enables a global 56-kb/s, V.90 soft modem to reside in very little board space. The Si3038 meets global telephone line standards, including FCC, CTR21 and JATE, as well as country-specific PTT, safety and emissions standards. It can operate as a primary or secondary codec with an AC link interface to system core logic or a digital controller. The chipset includes the Si3024 AC'97 interface IC and Si3014 programmable telephone-line interface IC.
