Minimizing component counts in automotive and general-lighting applications, the MAX16812 high-voltage, switch-mode, high-brightness LED driver integrates analog and PWM-dimming control, a high-side/differential LED current-sense amplifier, PWM-dimming MOSFET driver, and a 76V, 0.2-Ω switching MOSFET. Operating frequency range is from 100 to 500 kHz, and the device provides ±5% accurate LED-current control. An on-board, 200-Hz ramp generator allows PWM-dimming control with an external analog signal, or it can be synchronized to an external PWM signal. Designed to withstand harsh operating environments, it operates from a 5.5V to 76V supply, ensuring cold-start and load-dump compliance. Other features include over-voltage protection, under-voltage lockout, soft-start, and thermal shutdown. Available in a 28-pin, 5 mm x 5 mm TQFN package, prices start at $2.10 each/1,000.
