Embarking as the first commercial LEDs to combine surface-mount technology with the features and capabilities of through-hole, leaded T-5-mm epoxy lens LEDs, the OctoLEDs offer a direct replacement for standard 5-mm through-hole LEDs. The components deliver brightness levels of up to 7,000 mcd depending on color with a forward current of 20 mA. Available on standard 24-mm tape for automatic insertion, they have an off-the-board height of 11 mm and measure 6 mm x 6 mm. Colors include red, yellow, green, blue, white, bi-color, and RGB. The LEDs are available with a variety of lens finishes, opening the door to different viewing angle options dependent upon lens type.
