An ultra-miniature programmable analog laser distance sensor has been designed to deliver highly accurate, non-contact measurements in extremely small operating environments. The OADM 12 sensor requires no external control units, signal conditioners, or other electronics, and can be mounted directly on dynamic components. Achieving 2 µm resolution and 250 to 900 µs measuring cycles, the sensor provides consistent, precise, and accurate measurement independent of color and surface texture. Measuring 12 mm x 37 mm x 34 mm, this matchbook-sized device is suitable for part profiling, thickness measurement, height and roll diameter dimensioning, robotic positioning, and quality control monitoring in a range of industries including automotive, food service, semiconductor/electronics assembly, and machine tool. With sensing distances from 15 mm to 120 mm, the OADM 12 can be used for longer-range measurement. A single-button onboard teach function lets users program in their desired measuring window. By inverting the slope of the analog signal, the sensor can be customized for specific applications. Other features include an IP-67 sealed, rugged die cast, industrial glass optics, and an extended life laser LED. BAUMER ELECTRIC LTD., Southington, CT. (800) 937-9336.
