Module Thwarts Obsolescence

The CoreModule 550 module provides a migration path from 486-based PC/104 boards and is a suitable replacement for end-of-life modules using AMD Geode or Transmeta processors. It offers a choice of either 300 MHz Via Eden ESP 3000 or 1 GHz Eden ESP 10000 processors. Peripheral features include a 10/100BaseT Ethernet port, two RS-232/422/485 ports, USB port, compact flash socket, PC/104-Plus expansion, soldered RAM, and support for CRT and flat panel video with AGP4x performance. Operating without a fan, the module handles a standard temperature range from 0°C to +70°C and an extended range from -40°C to +85°C. Via board-support packages, the module accommodates Windows CE 5.0/4.2, QNX, VxWorks, and Linux. Prices start around $350 each in production quantities. AMPRO COMPUTERS INC., San Jose, CA.
