PC/104 CPU Board Performs DAQ Duties

With an eye on space and cost reductions, the Elektra embedded PC/104 CPU board integrates data acquisition (DAQ) with features that include a Pentium II processor running at 200 MHz, 128 MB of RAM, Ethernet, and analog and digital I/O with auto calibration. The board operates in temperatures from -40°C to 85°C and consumes 5.5W. Its DAQ circuit provides a/d conversion with a 16-bit resolution and programmable input ranges. A 512-sample FIFO and a programmable timer deliver a sampling rate of 100 kHz in any supported operating system (Linux, DOS, QNX, and Windows CE). The board provides four 12-bit d/a channels, 24 programmable digital I/O lines, and two programmable counter/timers. Elektra is available in two configurations: model ELK200-EA-XT includes the CPU plus DAQ, and model ELK200-E-XT comes with the CPU only. Both models include four RS-232 ports, two USB 1.1 ports with USB floppy support, 10/100 Ethernet interface, parallel and IDE ports, programmable watchdog timer, and a backup battery. Single-piece prices for the ELK200-EA-XT and ELK200-E-XT are $750 and $450, respectively. DIAMOND SYSTEMS CORP., Newark, CA. (510) 456-7800.
