PowerPC-Powered SBC Sports A Gaggle Of Different I/O

Deployment in a wide range of applicationsÑfrom embedded industrial controls to computer and communications systemsÑis said to be possible with SC13 standalone single board computers (SBCs), largely resulting from the numerous I/O and memory options available on board. The SBCs are offered with three different daughtercard configurations: with three M-Module mezzanine card slots; with three PCáMIP slots; or with two PMC sites. The nominal 6-5/16" x 9-3/16" (6U, double Eurocard) form-factor cards are well-suited for use in small, dedicated embedded systems, with either 6U cPCI or VMEbus SBCs with similar functionality also available for more complex applications. In addition to a 300-MHz PowerPC XPC8245 processor with on-chip floating point and memory management units, SC13s can also be configured with up to 256 MB of DRAM through a SO-DIMM slot. They also come with 2 MB of re-writable flash memory, a slot for ATA-compatible CompactFlash and a header for attaching conventional IDE disks. Several networking and serial ports supplement the SC13sÕ mezzanine card I/O capabilities, with the cards also packing USB, IDE and other interfaces commonly used in computer applications. The SBCs also have a real-time clock, watchdog and temperature monitors, as well as a hex switch and LED indicators. Software support packages are available for Vxworks, OS-9 and Linux.
