Predicting reduced costs and footprint, the STW81100 multi-band RF synthesizer integrates two voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs), thus offering a single-chip alternative to discrete PLL and VCO designs. The VCOs specify a phase-noise performance and noise floor of -153 dBc/Hz. The integer-N frequency synthesizer covers three bands: 820 MHz to 1.1 GHz, 1.64 GHz to 2.2 GHz, and 3.28 GHz to 4.4 GHz. The device is also available as an IP cell. Samples and evaluation boards are available today with volume production slated for midyear. In a lead-free, exposed 28-lead QFN package, price is $3 each/10,000. STMICROELECTRONICS INC., Lexington, MA. (888) 787-3550.
