The E2 is a high-performance, RoHS-compliant 32-Bit RISC/DSP microcontroller from Hyperstone, the daughter company of CML Microsystems. Features include a programmable serial communications engine, ADC unit, and 32 kbits of on-chip I-RAM complemented with an external memory and peripheral interface controller. The cost-effective microcontroller, which performs at 640 MOPS/160 MHz peak, is targeted at global industrial sensing and control applications, consumer applications, metering, scanning EPOS, and other cost-sensitive applications. An E2 development kit includes a populated board, software development tools (IDE), C/C++ compiler, linker, assembler, source-level debugger with profiler, runtime kernel, and DSP library. Additional product highlights include dynamic frequency scaling, power-down and sleep modes, and low power consumption (200 mW typical). The E2 is available now in a 144-pin LQFP package. Operating temperature range is either 0 to +70ºC or –40°C to +85ºC, depending on the version. CML MICROSYSTEMS PLC, Maldon, Essex, England. 00 44 (0)1621 875500.
