SBCs Use PowerPC Processors

March 1, 2000

Based on PowerPC mPs, these single-board computers (SBCs) include the PowerCoreCPCI for cPCI and the PowerCore-6750 for VMEbus backplanes. Built with PowerPC 750s having clock speeds up to 400 MHz and low power consumption, the SBCs are based on the company's core architecture that maintains full software compatibility with the entire PowerCore product line. Both boards offer up to 256 MB of SDRAM and support fast memory access of real-time applications. The cPCI board is compliant with PICMG's hot-swap spec. Other features include 1 MB of L2 cache and up to 8 MB of flash for demanding I/O. A Fast Ethernet interface, two serial channels, a real-time clock, watchdog timer, and dual expansion slots for PCI mezzanine cards provide complete, flexible I/O functionality. Price starts at $4150 for cPCI board and $5595 for VME version.
