Designed to meet miniaturization standards in portable equipment, the 8069 series SMT, one-piece shield lock connectors lock RF shielding cans to the printed circuit board. Target applications include cellular phones, notebook computers, and PDAs. According to the company, RF shielding that is hard-soldered to the circuit board assembly is expensive and time-consuming to repair if rework is needed. The 8069 connector is an SMT shield clip that locks the can in place, eliminating the secondary soldering process and allowing the can to be removed and refitted without damage to the board. The shield clips are available in standard heights of 1.8 mm and 3 mm and will accept 0.2 mm thick cans. The connectors are available in tape-and-reel packaging priced at $ 0.075 each/500,000 with lead-times from stock to 10 weeks. For more information, call David Schedin at AVX CORP., Myrtle Beach, SC.
